May I present,
Surrounded, the quilt.
Surrounded,
because the orange pluses are surrounded by gray,
and the gray pluses are surrounded by orange.
Because the blocks that are outlined in hand-quilting with black perle cotton
are surrounded by those that are not.
Surrounded,
because the back,
which really could be the front,
surrounds him with things that say 'Brandon'.
The arrows
(made by sorta following this tute) because he likes to shoot them,

and because he builds amazing bows out of pvc.
I was so tickled to find a scrap of this letter fabric from Matt and Marin's quilt with a 'B'! Perfect!! |
Shurekin
as a nod to his awesome black belt ninja skills.

Dapper foxes,
because he is of the generation that wonders
what does the fox say?
And he is such a fine dresser.
(when he wants to dress up...)
And really, because I just thought he would like the fabric ;-)

Surrounded,
because this handsome boy is surrounded with love.
The orange! It's just a gorgeous quilt. You have a beautiful family. Blessings on you. I'm sure he loves his quilt and will cherish it for years to come.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is amazing! I love everything about both the front and back - the quilting, the hand quilting, the design, your fabric choices and the reason for making. Perfectly made for a special son.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! Both sides. Your post made me tear up a little. What a special quilt and so perfect with all the stories that will live on because they were told in a quilt.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is absolutely beautiful and I can't even decide which side I like more! I have a thing for orange and these pluses.. o my, that makes me want to do one too! Great photos!

blessings ~ Tracy, the momma
What a stunning quilt! As a PP said, your color choices are brilliant! LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI just love the whole thing! It makes me feel like a total slacker for not getting my son's quilt done! Haha! This is way above and beyond what I have in mind. It's so incredibly personal. Honestly, it's one of the best combinations for a plus quilt I've ever seen. Is it too late to change from wonky stacked coins to a plus quilt?! What an absolute treasure. Good work, Mama!!!
ReplyDeletePs - I've loved all your beach photos. I just didn't comment on every post because it feels like overkill when I'm binge reading to catch up. And I didn't want you to feel you had to reply to all of them. :)
