it's official, I think

I think
that
after about 18 years
give or take
I am finally
a
real
seamstress
I regularly use the little thread-cutter.
Surely that makes it official?
~
Lest this new title go to my head
we are also
- the entire family -
officially
hicks.
We went to the
Spinach Festival.
It can't get much more hick than that.
~
and now
the littlest hick & I
are off to sew
because 11:30
is just way to early to go to bed.
What are we sewing?
'Stripes for Josiah'
a quilt
for the soon-to-be-four-year-old
who requested
- many times -
a quilt for his birthday.
A sewed one, not a bought one;
and
he can tell the difference!

  1. can't wait to see the quilt!! I'm sure he will love it :)

We're still working on present ideas for that kid.
Whenever I ask him what he "would like to have" for his birthday, he just nods. And I say 'would you like to have {for example} some new clothes' and he nods. And I say "what clothes would you like" and he says "this is my favorite shirt and I have jeans in my box"
When I ask what toys he would like, he tells me about the kitchen in the playroom....
I think what he HEARS is "what do you HAVE that you LIKE"
    haha :D it's sweet, though.

  4. Sewing! You AND your brother are magnificent! Yes, you are very deserving of the title. :-)

As for spinach, I sure wish we could get it to grow here. Lots of cabbage though. I'd take the spinach any day!

  6. I don't know if you saw my comment about the package but I have to say a mega thanks again! So sweet and thoughtful! And so ironic that the poll on my blog ended up with the results that most people would love a suprise package! Crazy how that worked out!

I would love for you to do a guest post on how to make those sundresses if you can. Or at least point us to where you found the pattern! All my friends are going to want one now!

  7. Surely the Spinach Festival can't be more hick than the National Cornbread Festival!?! To which I have been every year for the last 5 years. You may be a hick, but you're in good company. (I popped over by way of your comment on a post at Smockity Frocks last year (linked in another post from more recently) What a beautiful family you have!
