Cute kitty!! I was unable to reply to you questions about my mini quilt since you have a no-reply address, but here it is! I just back stitch whenever I start and stop for just a couple of stitches. That seems to hold the thread in place just fine. I'm a pretty new quilter myself, but this is what I've read that others do as well! Hope that helps!
