loss of words

yet another sign that my baby girl is all growed up
She tossed her words.
all of them
~
One year for language
the kids (Tj & Lana) had to read from a book list
and
make index cards
of every word they came across in their reading
that they didn't know.
Lana, being the 'wordy' one,
took the assignment much more seriously than her brother;
her box of words was precious.
Once, some little person got into her box
and she ended up in tears
because
someone had 'spilled her words'.
(I'm ashamed to admit it, but the rest of us thought it was rather funny.
Not the mess, mind you, but
words
all over the floor.... guess you had to be there)
~
yesterday
she
very reluctantly
threw her words in the trash.
Now
she has nothing left
but an empty box
and
a couple thousand rarely-used words
rolling around in her head.
~
I love you, Baby Girl!

  1. I had to throw away the box, too, *sniff*, it was falling apart. Apparently, all those words were too much of a burden.
aww, thanks for posting about my words, mom, I didn't think you would.
    I love you.
