another anniversary

It was nine months ago today that I posted my first Fitness Update.
I'd been actively working (very hard!) to get trim and healthy for three months.
Which means that today
is my one year 'trimaversary'.

If you've been reading here for any length of time,
you know that this has not been easy. at all.
In fact, it's been a ridiculously tough battle,
far more difficult than I imagined
(and I didn't expect it to be easy...)

I really thought that by now, a full year later, I would be at my goal,
but I am nowhere near it.
At my current rate (less than 1 lb a month!) it'll be over 2 years before I reach it.

Instead of bemoaning all that, I'll focus on the positives.
I've lost a total of 24 lbs
and 17 3/8 inches
(with a disproportionate percentage coming from my boobs. boo!)

I finally weigh less than my husband
(for a few days anyways...)
for perhaps the first time in our marriage.

I have muscles

I also have batwings. and I still have an extra chin.
and I can't pose.
But, I can laugh at myself.

I can do pull-ups.

and push-ups.

well, I can when Jack isn't in my face..

I can persevere.

I can't bear to post true 'before' pictures; I can barely stand to look at these.
The one on the left is from 9 months ago.
The differences are certainly not impressive for 9 months, but even small progress is progress.

I have a bunch of cheerleaders - thank-you!!!

I can almost make the perfect healthy chocolate chip cookie,
and that, my friends is nothing to sneeze at!
In fact,
I think I'll go make some right now to celebrate.
And then,
I'll exercise.

many thanks to my photographer. I love you, 'Siah!

(In case you want to read them all together, here are all of my fitness updates:
Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar, April, June, July)

  1. You look amazing and I truly admire your perseverance. I always try to remind myself that it's not just about the number on the scale, but about being healthy. You've been putting on muscle, which is heavier than fat, so it'd be nice if you could get regular body fat percentage counts. I bet your percentages have improved a lot.
And I hear you about the boob loss - seems like every time I lose weight, it goes from there first. And it's not like I have any to lose. :(

  2. You look WONDERFUL!!! You really really do! And I just watched a video showing what 1lb of fat looks like and it's nothing to sneeze at my friend! Slow steady progress, and besides, you are in great shape! xoxo

  3. You look a lot fitter, healthier and happier and that's what really matters. Plus you have lost 24lbs! That's amazing! You should be very pleased with yourself.

  4. PS I love your sense of humour - and you are beautiful!

  5. Oh my gosh! Mama! You look absolutely amazing!! I 'm so proud you! AAhh!! :D

  6. Congratulations on all of your accomplishments thus far! It's a journey. . . and the best part is you keep getting stronger and learning more about yourself along the way! So much to be proud of! Way to go!

  7. looking gorgeous girl!!! I can not even compete, look at you!! and you get an A+++++ for not giving up!! wonderful!!! Love you bunches!!

  8. 41 years and 7 kids have done me in pretty good. I started working out hard (for me!) in February and it hasn't worked for me nearly the way I thought either! (The boobs, which were never big are always the first to go - so unfair!!!) 9 months later and I've gained muscle weight rather than loosing anything, I still have a belly roll (mama pouch) bigger than my bra line, and some nice new definition in a few places. Man, getting old has been hard! But my husband keeps telling me I look great and it's helping me in ways he recognizes but I don't, so let's both keep at it, ok?! Love how you can laugh at yourself. :)

You're leaving me a comment?? Oh goody! I love comments :-)
