the novel plan

Not only did I check out a novel
before leaving town,
I also purchased a couple of used paperbacks
from the library.
They were considered 'large'
so I had to fork over fifty cents each
instead of the 25 cents per book I thought I was paying.
Would you laugh if you knew I had 3 books
but put one back once I found out the new price?
I did.
Anyways.
3 works of fiction!
I wasn't sure which one to read
so I settled on the sofa
with my bum foot propped on the footstool
and set a timer for 8 minutes.
I was going to do 10,
but then that would equal a whole half hour
by the time I was finished
and that just seemed exorbitant.
The thinking was,
I'd give each book 8 minutes
and then,
whichever book I had the hardest time setting aside
would be the book I'd read.
I didn't have a hard time setting any of them aside.
So there went my fiction reading...

  1. man, if i'd known ahead of time, i could have hooked you up with some good stuff! i really love the Mitford books by Jan Karon. plus i got some other good ones laying around here.
it IS hard to find a good novel if you're not reading a classic...
